AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMP (ASHP)

ASHPs provide home cooling and supplemental heating with up to 72% less electricity than conventional air conditioners and furnaces. Members who own an ASHP are eligible to participate in BENCO’s dual fuel program.
Members can maintain complete control of their home by switching between cooling and heating directly from the thermostat. Quality Installation (QI) is required. Please confirm your contractor is QI-certified. A list of qualified contractors can be found here.

Contractor Forms

A ductless, or mini-split, air-source heat pump does not require ductwork in your home. There is one outdoor condenser connected to one or more indoor air distribution units. Indoor units are typically mounted on the wall, floor or ceiling. The individually-controlled indoor units allow for zoned heating and cooling, which maximize comfort and energy savings.
$500 rebate for a new Ductless (Mini-Split) ASHP, per condenser.

An ETS space heating system can provide 100% of the buildings heating requirements by storing heat produced from electric during the nightly off-peak period. ETS heating systems includes boilers, electric heating mats, electric storage heating units, etc.
$50 rebate per kW. ETS equipment must be enrolled in BENCO’s storage load management program.

ECMs, for home furnaces, can help members save energy by running at the best speed, opposed to traditional motors that always run at top speed.

GSHPs, also called geothermal heat pumps, are the most efficient residential heating and cooling system available. In the winter, heat is pumped out of the ground and transferred to the air in your home. In summer, the process is reversed and heat is pumped from the building into the ground.
$400 rebate for a new GSHP per ton if enrolling in BENCO’s dual fuel program.
$200 rebate for a new GSHP per ton if not enrolling in BENCO’s dual fuel program.

Please note applicants must provide proof of recycling and proof of purchase.
Rebates up to $100 will be credited to your BENCO electric bill. Rebates over $100 will be paid via check. Please allow up to 12 weeks for processing.
Rebate applications must be submitted within 12 months of invoice date.
If the rebated equipment requires enrollment and verification in a BENCO load management program, enrollment must occur prior to receiving rebate payment.
